GENERAL INFORMATION

The Lucy Pruett Trinity Care Center is based approximately 90 miles southeast of Harare in a rural setting. The Center consists of HOME UNITS FOR ORPHANS, a MEDICAL FACILITY, a FEEDING CENTER and a CHAPEL. We offer a wide range of experiences from evangelistic outreach, building projects, childcare, medical programs and clerical work. As we are a Christian community, we require a high degree of commitment and flexibility from everyone involved.

We are NOT offering a holiday in Africa! We suggest that interns who wish to travel and sightsee organize this for themselves after their internship program is completed.

Life in Zimbabwe is very different than in the USA and it must be understood that all recruits be emotionally and spiritually mature enough to cope with the demands and sometimes hardships of missionary work. In short, interns need to come prepared to involve themselves full in the life and work of the mission.

REQUIREMENTS:

1.   3 reference letters (one from your home church)

5.   Proof of sponsorship

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

  1. You will not be provided with any regular transportation during your stay at the LPTCC, thus you will remain at the mission unless an invitation is extended to visit elsewhere.
  2. The maximum stay will be THREE MONTHS and will only be extended with board approval.
  3. There will be kitchen facilities to make light meals, but you will be responsible for providing your own food. Three basic meals (ethnic meals) will be provided daily. There is a local ‘shop’ where cool drinks, chips, and sweets can be purchased as well as some necessities such as milk, bread, eggs and soap.
  4. You will be responsible for your own laundry. Linens will be provided but bring your own toiletries, sunscreen, flashlight, insect repellent, water jug, and Bible. (A Swiss-Army knife is handy).
  5. All interns are expected to donate $100 (US cash) to the mission.
  6. Bring your own spending money for tithe, food and curio’s (cash only)
  7. Cleanliness and tidiness in your living quarters is required.
  8. Personal hygiene, cleanliness, neatness and punctuality of the highest standard are expected.
  9. There are many personal and cultural factors that you will not be aware of therefore we ask you to respect and support the established principals and standards set by the directors and board. Do not give any money to staff, children or locals and clear any gifts to be given with the Directors.
  10. Phone calls will be kept to a minimum and you will be charged for any outgoing calls you make.
  11. Do not expect any western-style amenities such as computer access, TV, VCR, radio stations, air conditioning or fast foods!
  12. You will adhere to a basic 8-hour work day, beginning at approximately 7AM – 4PM

THINGS TO KNOW:

1.   Climate:
      May-August:  Winter months:    Dry and Cold
      Sept-April:     Summer months:  Wet and Hot
2.  Health:
     Consult you doctor about vaccination requirements (Tetanus must be up to date)
     Anti-malarials will be provided
     Travel insurance is highly recommended
     Bring all your medication needs with you (prescription and over the counter)
3.  Clothing:
     Modest dress that is befitting of Christian character (no shorts, halters,etc)
     Good comfortable walking shoes recommended
     Umbrella during rainy months
     Warm clothing and sweaters essential during winter months as no heating
     Systems in the buildings in Zimbabwe (hot water bottle a good idea)

You may purchase your 3-month visa at the airport upon your arrival in Zimbabwe. You will be met at the airport by LPTCC staff and transported to Chinyudze. Your residential address will be: The Lucy Pruett Trinity Care Center, Chinyudze, Headlands and contact telephone number is 025-82-23756

CODE OF CONDUCT

  1. All interns are expected to submit to the authorities of the Directors and Board of All God’s Children, Inc.

  2. Attendance at all Sunday services and mid-week Bible studies are mandatory.
  3. Any problems encountered should be directed immediately to the attention of the Directors
  4. There will be no alcohol intake on or off the premises of the LPTCC during your stay with AGC in Zimbabwe.
  5. You will not discuss any politics with the staff, children or locals during your stay in Zimbabwe. By doing so you could jeopardize the established work.
  6. You will adhere to the Rules and Regulations as outlined above.
